CRIME Some areas of Jamaica, particularly the population centers suchs as kingston, Montego bay an spanish town, experience high levels of crime and violence. Crime and violence.   POLITICAL PERSECUTION  The persecution of members of the Rastafari movement, a group that flourished in Jamaica in the early 1930s and who worship Haile Selassie I as ''Christ in the character of King of Kings'', has been continuous from its origins to the present day. The major cause of persecution today is the spiritual use of cannabis, which is illegal in most countries of the world  UNEMPLOYMENT  The unemployment rate soared to 12.6% in July 2020, and while some improvement was seen in October 2020 when it declined to 10.7%, unemployment remained well above the 7.2% recorded in October 2019.
